  • How to change your preview images / thumbnails... admin admin

Do you know how to add custom preview images? It's a hassle for now, but you can do it manually. The automatic thumb maker takes a screenshot about 4 seconds into the clip, and that's what you are stuck with for the automatic way. After your clip is up though, you can click on "edit item" to the right of your video on it's individual video page. The next page has a "thumbnail" area that allows an upload of a thumbnail from your computer. Now, this sucks, but what I have done is play the clip, wait for the control to fade off the screen and then hold the "ctrl" and "Prt Scrn" buttons on your keyboard. (I don't know how this is done on a mac). Then open photoshop, err if you have it, do "file/new" and then hit "ctrl" + "V" to paste the screenshot. Crop it and resize if needed to 480x360, the output resolution of the videos. So, going back to earlier, in your "edit item" screen select your new image then hit save. Make sure your preview is 480x360 pixels or it might come out weird. You can use any image you want too. So that's how we have to do it for now. Hopefully in the next release of the site script we can choose from 4-5 pre-generated thumbs etc..

Well, some good news. I figured out the "no video in the firefox front page" issue. So that works great now! Also, I fixed the color differences for the .png's which made them look funny in IE.

We still have some bugs in the site, as it is still pretty new. The biggest one, and the most annoying being that the video clip on the start page does not show up right away in the Firefox browser as well as others. It seems to work right in Internet Explorer. I'm working to figure this out, and hopefully will have it fixed soon so our climbing videos will show up correctly.
